Pediatrician

Celia Vicente Martinez

A doctor graduated from the University of Salamanca, I trained as a paediatrician at the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA) where I discovered a special interest in children with childhood cancer and their families. I continued my training with a master's degree in advances in paediatric oncology and haematology at the Niño Jesús Hospital. I have worked as an associate paediatrician in the Paediatric Oncohaematology Unit and the palliative care and chronicity unit of Asturias until 2023, the year in which I arrived in Mallorca to work in the paediatric palliative care unit at Son Espases Hospital with a special interest in home care.

These very special children taught me how important health prevention is, which has led me to provide training in basic care and prevention activities for families and professionals related to child care.

Currently working in the pediatric emergency department at Manacor Hospital, I continue to develop my activity as a pediatrician and specialize in coaching for families.

It has been a very beautiful and enriching stage in which I have learned a lot from these types of patients and their families. Communication and empathy skills are essential, because when a child is sick, a family is sick. The role of the pediatrician at that moment is not only to cure, but also to listen, understand, accompany, relieve... Which is precisely what we achieve at Espacio Jorge El Pediatra, which is to be "something more than a pediatrician."
